Atlanta, GA - September 26, 2010 -- Michelle Brown-Stafford, mother of 14-year-old Steven Stafford, a junior at Morehouse College, will be a special guest speaker at Talk 2 Your Baby’s free workshop at Bloom & Grow on October 9, 2010, at 11:00 a.m.
Parents will hear about the benefits of early communication between parents and their children, as well as the many tools available to them to facilitate early education. Talk 2 Your Baby offers classes and fun activities where infants and toddlers, along with their caregivers, not only learn sign language, but use signing to learn phonics, sight words, numbers, colors, reading, math, science and social studies. Talk 2 Your Baby also offers enrichment sessions for Pre K2-K4 children. Parents will also be able to register their children for upcoming classes, which have limited space available, during the workshop. Bloom & Grow is located at 928A Garrett Street, Atlanta, GA 30316.
Claire Anderson, who has a Master’s in Elementary Mathematics and Literacy, as well as an American Sign Language certification, founded Talk 2 Your Baby after successfully teaching her son Caleb Anderson to read and count by using sign language.
By the age of 18 months, Caleb could read at the first grade level, use phonics, and add.

Early start vs Social Play?
Why not both?
“Helping all children start school ready to learn is critical to their future success and to the well-being of society as a whole. Children who start school behind their peers are unlikely to catch up. Children who enter kindergarten with limited word reading skills are the most likely to develop later reading difficulties and require remedial education." With so many researches out there supporting the importance of early education, why do some daycares and parents continue to state that Children should focus on social play?

Why do parents have low expectations for their children?
Why do parents have low expectations for their children? A newborn's brain is about 25 percent of its approximate adult weight. But by age 3, it has grown dramatically by producing billions of cells and hundreds of trillions of connections, or synapses, between these cells. The brain is like a muscle, use it or lose it! Read, count, take nature walks, teach them sign language, help your child exercise their brain with good things.
